Chris asks:
Q: First Time Breadmaker Buyer
A: I am not happy with my bread machine
I have a Zojirushi--a machine that is highly revered. I get the feeling it does one of the best jobs of making bread
in a bread machine but I feel bread machines have limitations. I do not like the bread made in it. I am not thrilled
with the consistancy or shape. I have been trying to use it to knead bread and then shape it in the oven. This is very
clean and efficient but I am not happy with the kneaded results. I feel the bread is a little rubbery. Also, if I am
going to heat up my oven, I might as well make two loaves. You have to decide what you want your machine for. The
common advice is if it is just to knead the dough than (sic) you can go for a cheaper model. (Though I heard
some stall
with heavy doughs). If you want to bake it in the machine, I would check out the size of the loaf of bread that it
makes. See if you would like to eat bread in that shape. Than (sic) decide on the features you would like. If I had to do
it over again, I would have bought a Magic Mill dlx -- this is a mixer that is suppose to make great bread. (It does
not bake it).
